I had a friend in town so sewing was not super viable this weekend… but I still managed to get two things done and a third on Tuesday. So we’re up to 2/3 done of the Spring Mini Capsule (Original post, Update 1)!
There’s a bit of a change in my capsule, due mainly to time restraints.
I ditched the SOS Knit Pants and Mama Isabel to add in a pole outfit. SOS was dropped because of time restraints: I only have so much of the fabric, and they were the fiddliest pattern I had on there. I am still going to be making them without a doubt, but just not by April 10th. Mama Isabel had to be dropped because I bought the perfect fabric for it and it won’t be arriving until this weekend and that’s not a guarantee.
But anyhoo, on to the completed patterns!
Peg Legs (long)
- Pattern: Peg Legs by Patterns for Pirates
- Fabric: Blue DBP from Pretty Posh Prints
- Size: Large
- Modifications:
- Added a gusset
- Increased the rise
- Shortened the band
- Did a faux-band on the ankles. Any hemming I did on my test fabric looked god awful, but I did a cool hem with the serger. That I totally forgot to take detailed pictures of. (I just tried youtubing it and it’s like a blind hem, but not blind. If that makes ANY sense. Yup!)
Peg Legs (short)
- Pattern: Peg Legs by Patterns for Pirates
- Fabric: random swim fabric from FabricLand
- Size: Large
- Modifications:
- Added a gusset
- Shortened the band
- Used hem tape and zigzag to hem.
Siren Swim Top
- Pattern: Siren Swim Top by Patterns for Pirates
- Fabric: random swim fabric from FabricLand
- Size: Large, 4″
- Modifications:
- None? Amazingly?
- The lining fabric and the main fabric were the same so that was a bit confusing. I’ll definitely do a contrast lining in the future.
I need to up the bust inches, to really make sure it stays put. I did wear the top to pole last night, and it passed the test of Advanced Inversions. I can’t wait to make more of this pattern. Maybe with some flounce? 😀
Only three items to go!
