When I first bought this beautiful yarn, I had bought it specifically to make PattiAnn. I overbought..by a solid 3 skeins (750 yards). I got it at The Loopy Ewe – the actual store in Colorado! Amanda and Andrea took me there when I visited in November. It was so full of pretty things it was hard to choose. I kept grabbing three colors at a time, finding them in the store and getting them to choose their favorites. Lakeshore won out, due to it’s nice heathering effect (there’s a bit of lime green in there!).
On Monday, I swatched for PattiAnn and decided that I was really, really not a fan of the fabric.
I probably could have gone down a needle size, but I also just didn’t like the pattern instructions (weird slipping and then working into the carried yarn…). I was going to try to insert another thermal knit pattern, but after some searching I decided to go with another pattern.
I had so much of the yarn, I realized I could do another sweater on my queue: Maritime. It’s full of cabling goodness (like Rowe). Pieced and seamed (like Rowe). Oversized (like Rowe). Seems to me I’ve got a style in mind right now 😀
Though I’m not using the amazing Plucky yarn it was designed for, I’m still getting really nice stitch definition.
(COLOR BALANCE WHEEEE).
I cast on Monday – immediately after swatching. It’s going by really fast, I’m at 16.5″ of the back piece after two days. Project page: Maritime.
